Located on Tasmania ’s scenic East Coast, affectionately dubbed the ‘ Sunshine Coast ’ by locals, Saltwater is easily accessible by main roads from both Hobart in the south and Launceston in the north.

Fast Facts - travel times:

From Launceston airport - 1h 30 min [or if you choose the scenic route via Scottsdale, allow 3 hrs].

From Hobart airport - 2h 45mins on the scenic coastal route.

From Hobart - 2h 20mins via Midland Hwy.

 

Travel from Hobart :

 

*  If travelling from Hobart via the inland route [A1/Midland Hwy], an easy 2 ˝ hour drive will bring you to Saltwater.  Approximately 1 ˝ hours into your journey [10 kms north of Campbell town], turn right on to the East Coast Hwy/A4.  Pass through Avoca, Fingal and St Mary’s; then descend a winding pass and turn right on to A3.  After 3 kms, turn left into Falmouth .  The first street on your right at the entrance to Falmouth is Frank Street and Saltwater is located at the coast end of this short road.

 

*  If you choose to travel to Falmouth via the scenic east coast route [A3], your journey may take anywhere from 3 hours to all day depending on scenic side-trips [eg Freycinet National Park ] and lunch stops.  The east coast route passes through Orford, Swansea and Bicheno.  Saltwater is located approximately 30 minutes north of Bicheno and the exit is clearly signposted.  Take the first road on your right [Frank Street] as you approach Falmouth and your journey concludes at the end of this short road.

 

Travel from Launceston:

 

Travel time from Launceston to Saltwater is approximately 1 ˝ hours.  Head south on the A1 Hwy and after 30 minutes turn left on to the East Coast Hwy/A4.  Pass through Avoca, Fingal and St Mary’s and then descend a winding pass.  At the bottom of the pass, turn right on to the A3 and the Falmouth turn-off is 3 kms on your left.  At the entrance to Falmouth is Frank Street on the right  and Saltwater is located at the coast end of this short street.
